We would hide the truth from
the sorrowful one, whose bowl
has fallen from the roof,*
but it can't be hid.
While that ignorant one--
that stranger to love's sorrow,
to whom truth has been shown
so many times--cannot see it.
The mirror of the heart must be clear,
so you may know the ugly from the beautiful.

zu nehân kardim haqq panhân na-gasht
