God drove the devils from His place of watch;
He drove the particular intellect from its autonomy,
saying, "Don't domineer; you are not autonomous,
no, you are the pupil of the heart and created to learn from it.
Go to the heart, go, for you are a part of the heart:
pay attention, for you are a slave of that just King."
To be His slave is better than being a sovereign,
for only Satan says, "I am better."*
See the distinction and prefer, O prisoner,
the servanthood of Adam to the pride of Iblis.
